With the start of the new school term, now is a good time to look at which areas in London offer the best quality schooling. When looking to buy or rent a property in London, one of the first things you might consider is the local schools, and education is one of the major drivers for the housing market.

Data shows that parents can pay a premium of up to 15 per cent more to live in the catchment of a good state school in the capital, and with the population expected to grow rapidly over the next four years, competition for homes and school places will only increase.

Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills) ensure that organisations providing education, training and care services in England do so to a high standard. There are four overall judgements that result from an inspection; outstanding, good, requires improvement, and inadequate. The judgement that a school receives can have a great impact on the value of the housing in the local area.

Whatever area you choose to live in, there are a plethora of ‘outstanding schools’. Here is just a small selection in each quarter of the city.
