City Road, a once unloved district sat on the axis of Clerkenwell, Shoreditch and Islington, has undergone a rapid transformation in recent years. In a makeover that has cost in excess of £1 billion, 1960’s buildings are now eclipsed by a corridor of shiny, new, luxury towers.

The close proximity of the banking community certainly helped kickstart the regeneration, but the emergence of high tech and digital companies based around Old Street roundabout, nicknamed ‘silicon roundabout’, sealed the deal. Add in fantastic travel connections, and cultural richness and the rest is history.

Some of the world’s top architects were appointed to work on the redevelopment of City Road. UNStudio, who were responsible for the Scotts Towers in Singapore and the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart designed Canaletto, a 196m tower located at the North end of the road. 31 storeys of glass and steel play host to 190 apartments, and 3 storeys of amenity space including a spa and private cinema.

The eye catching 250 City Road was designed by Foster + Partners, whose work includes the Gherkin and Wembley stadium. Within this landmark development, there is a 24 hour concierge, spa and boot camp terrace. The central plaza is surrounded by bustling cafes, shops and restaurants.

The Lexicon, designed by US firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, designed the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest building, and the Nato headquarters in Brussels. The Lexicon comprises three buildings of apartments, many with private balconies offering a view out to the city. All apartments benefit from underfloor heating, and luxury kitchens and bathrooms.

Eagle Point, home to 276 apartments was designed by the practice owned by prominent architect Sir Terry Farrel. Situated upon a retained art deco 5 storey building, The Eagle is always a popular choice of residence due to its fantastic location for City workers and students.

The Atlas Building offers 38 floors of exquisite residential apartments. Designed by Ken Shuttleworth’s award-winning architecture practice MAKE, and with interiors designed by Woods Bagot, the development oozes luxury, grandeur and simplicity. Alongside this award winning combination of world class architecture and design is a fantastic lifestyle and amenity offering, including a gym, swimming pool, private residents lounge and a public piazza.
